Release Chantal Anicoche!
Stop the Bombings! Stop the Killings! Stop the Attacks!
End US-backed violations of human rights and international humanitarian law in the Philippines and everywhere!
IMA-USA amplifies these campaign calls, including the calls of IMA members BAYAN-USA and Migrante-USA, for Justice for Jerlyn Doydora! Defend Mindoro! and End de facto martial law in Mindoro!
Chantal and Jerlyn are youth and community leaders, from the U.S. and the Philippines, who were volunteering in relief efforts and learning about the dire poverty and drought conditions of the indigenous Mangyan people and peasant communities on the island of Mindoro, Philippines. The local communities struggling against corporate mining, illegal logging, landgrabbing and plunder of the rich resources of Mindoro have also suffered from increased militarization with over 10 battalions of Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines deployed there last year to repress local people's resistance.
On the morning of January 1st, the Philippine military bombed and strafed local communities with over 1200 troops and 4 attack helicopters dropping at least 12 bombs and indiscriminately firing on a community, killing 3 indigenous Mangyan children, injuring their mother, and forcing the evacuation of over 750 people from close to 200 families. Jerlyn passed away while fleeing from the bombed area, and Chantal was missing for several days until finallly today on January 8th after public outcry was finally surfaced. Chantal remains under custody of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and we demand her immediate and safe release.
We condemn these fascist terror attacks on the Mangyan and peasant communities in Mindoro and demand Justice for Jerlyn and that the Philippine government Release Chantal Anicoche now!
We also condemn the U.S. committing billions in increased funding to the Phi
As IMA-USA we demand an end to U.S. imperialist intervention in our homelands, from U.S. support of fascist militarized terror in the Philippines, to the crippling U.S. sanctions and now illegal bombing of Venezuela on Jan 3rd and the kidnapping of President Maduro and First Combatant Flores. With migrants like Chantal and Venezuelan migrants in IMA-USA speaking out on the conditions that force us to leave our homelands, we uplift community leaders like Chantal and all migrants who speak out, organize to defend migrants here, and return to our homelands and local communities to learn from the struggles to truly liberate our people and our nations.
We call on all IMA-USA members and supporters to join us in actions on January 8th and take photos and videos with #ReleaseChantal and #BeLikeChantal and these campaign calls:
Release Chantal Anicoche!
Stop the Bombings! Stop the Killings! Stop the Attacks!
End US-backed violations of human rights and international humanitarian law in the Philippines, Venezuela, and everywhere!
Justice for Jerlyn Doydora!
Defend Mindoro!
End de facto martial law in Mindoro!
US Out of the Philippines, Venezuela, and Everywhere!
