Strengthen the Migrant Worker Mass Movement Against Exploitation, Fascism, and Forced Migration

IMA-US General Assembly:
15 Years of Anti-Imperialist
Migrant Resistance

November 21, 2026

The International Migrants Alliance US has been growing it's country chapter and organizing the grassroots migrant movement for over a decade. IMA US continues to develop due to the increasing migrant resistance to the political situation here in the US, and around the world.

In the lead up to America 250, there were 10,000 detentions in one week alone. Daily detentions of our neighbors, co-workers, friends, family, and loved ones are becoming common occurrences; to the points where almost everyone knows someone in detention. Currently, Trump is demanding a 2,000 migrants-detained per-day quota from ICE, leading to arbitrary and violent identification. Migrant workers are the most impacted in being swept into the detention and deportation scheme, impacting not only themselves but their families, co-workers, and communities. Migrant workers continue to face exploitative working conditions while operating with precarious status, in care homes, agricultural fields, hospitals, sailing at sea, fast food industries, and across various industries that put profit over migrants.

Amidst the harsh and intensifying attacks on migrant workers, migrants continue to fight for their dignity and futures, with the support of the movement in defense of migrants. These fights are more vibrant and needed than ever. Migrants are launching campaigns in their workplaces for better wages. Migrants are seeing beyond an individual fight to free loved ones from detention to the collective fight for migrants' liberation. Migrants are actively demanding more from their home country governments by applying pressure to consulates here in the US. Migrants are forming more grassroots organizations to fight for them in the long term.

IMA is wielding this migrants movement across the 32+ member organizations in the US. IMA is ready to grow more, win more concrete victories through shared campaign work, and consolidate the alliance by convening the country chapter.

In this vein, IMA hopes to host the first ever General Assembly in Seattle, Washington this November 21st. This General Assembly will be back to back with the launch of the IWA-US (International Womens Alliance US) country chapter.
